WHAT IS BELKYRA?
Deoxycholic acid is a bile acid naturally found in our body, which breaks down and absorbs fats in our diets. Non-surgical, FDA-approved Deoxycholic acid injections are used at our Calgary Med Spa as a double chin treatment, contouring and improving the appearance of submental fullness.
It is used in the reduction of localized fat pockets. Deoxycholic Acid is a synthetic product that is injected into the subcutaneous fat. It destroys fat cells so they can no longer store or accumulate fat. The permanent breakdown of the fat cells leads to a well-crafted, lean silhouette. Some patients find their submental fullness difficult to improve with diet and exercise and look for other options to reduce their submental fullness. If you’ve put in the work of sticking to a healthy eating plan and exercising regularly but still aren’t happy with your results, deoxycholic acid injection double chin treatments at our Calgary office can help you spot and reduce areas that are still carrying a little extra pudge.
No Surgery Required
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF BELKYRA?
Belkyra is an excellent alternative to chin liposuction. This minimally invasive treatment uses the body’s natural acid to burn fat from the chin area. Belkyra provides a natural and smooth transition to a more defined and youthful neck and chin. The results are permanent, which makes this procedure even more attractive.
What are the risks of Belkyra?
There are very few risks involved in Belkyra, but main hazards include bruising, swelling, and a temporary lopsided smile. Nerve damage is possible, though the risk of this is significantly reduced with treatment from a trained practitioner. Other risks associated with deoxycholic acid injections include redness, numb feeling, pain, and areas of hardness in the treatment area as well as skin tightness, itching, nodule, tingling, and headache.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR BELKYRA?
If you’re afraid of surgery and of having liposuction around essential veins and arteries, then Belkyra at our Calgary Med Spa is an excellent solution. - Current infection in the treatment area
- Blood-clotting problems
- Swallowing difficulties
- An allergy to any of the product ingredients
- Patients who are pregnant or breast-feeding
