Reduce and Eliminate Hair
Laser Hair Removal in Calgary at Xthetics Face & Body Sculpt
Xthetics Face & Body Sculpt in Calgary offers GentleMax Pro® laser hair removal, one of the most advanced laser hair removal devices on the market. With this state-of-the-art technology, we can significantly reduce or eliminate everything from a few stray hairs to areas of thick hair virtually anywhere on your face and body.
The Gold Standard
What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal devices emit energy through a handpiece that passes over the skin. The laser energy bypasses the stratum corneum to target the hair follicles in the active growth phase, also known as the anagen phase. The heat generated by the laser damages the follicle, causing the hair to fall out and not grow back.
The GentleMax Pro® by Candela, used at our Calgary Med Spa, represents the gold standard in laser hair removal. It combines dual wavelengths to achieve rapid hair reduction on nearly all body areas. A powerful Alexandrite laser and nd-YAG laser join forces to effectively target the root of each hair. As a result, not only does the GentleMax Pro® destroy the hair follicle, but it also offers skin-tightening and brightening effects.
Sleek, Smooth Skin
What can Laser Hair Removal do for me?
Flip through any fitness or beauty magazine, and you’ll notice that models all share one thing in common. They can wear any clothing style, no matter the cut, without unwanted hair detracting from their look. While there is nothing wrong with body or face hair, many people find sleek, smooth skin more cosmetically appealing. If you are ready to embrace the hairless look for the long haul, laser hair removal from Xthetics in Calgary offers a lasting result compared to alternatives such as tweezing, waxing, depilatory creams, and shaving.

What are the risks associated with Laser Hair Removal?
In the hands of our experienced Calgary laser hair removal technicians, risks and complications are rare. The most common side effects are redness, swelling, warmth, and itching. These effects are usually mild and short-lived. Changes in skin pigmentation or texture, blistering, crusting, and scarring are less likely since we use one of the safest and gentlest lasers on the market. The rarest side effects include pigment loss or graying of the treated hair. Patients with skin tones higher on the Fitzpatrick scale may see excessive hair growth in the treatment area.
Prepare For
Smooth Skin
Consultation and Preparation
When you come to Xthetics Face & Body Sculpt, our Calgary laser hair removal technician will usher you into a private room where they will evaluate your hair density and recommend the ideal number of sessions. To prepare for laser hair removal, avoid waxing, exfoliants, sun tanning, and sunless tanners for several weeks. Please arrive at your appointment with clean skin that is free of moisturizers, perfumes, and deodorants.
Quick and Easy
Laser Hair Removal Procedure
After giving you protective eyewear to put on, your Xthetics hair removal specialist will thoroughly cleanse the treatment area. Next, they will gently press the laser device to your skin, working in small sections at a time. You will hear a beep and feel a quick pinch and some warmth with each pass of the GentleMax Pro® device. Most of our Calgary clients find any discomfort is mild and easily tolerated. The process can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or longer, depending on the size of the area, the number of areas treated, and the hair density.
No Downtime
Results, Recovery, and Aftercare
While there is no downtime after laser hair removal, our patients in Calgary will need to follow our provider’s aftercare instructions. Please avoid active skincare ingredients, fragrances, saunas, and any activity that can cause perspiration for at least a day or two. The treated skin may be more susceptible to sunburn, so wear sunscreen or protective clothing. Over the next few weeks, the treated hairs will gradually fall out. Do not pluck or wax. Instead, allow the hair to shed naturally. Three to six sessions are typically required to remove all the hair from an area. Each session is scheduled approximately four to eight weeks apart.

Most Common Questions
Is Laser Hair Removal painful? What does it feel like?
Our laser hair removal device is minimally painful thanks to its built-in cooling technology. Anesthetic is not required, and most patients only feel a quick snap and warmth as we pulse the laser across each area.
Is Laser Hair Removal permanent?
Laser hair removal is a long-lasting alternative to waxing and shaving. Any hair that grows back after the treatment tends to be finer and less dense.
How often should I schedule follow-up treatments?
You may need to schedule touch-ups once or twice annually to maintain your results.
How much does Laser Hair Removal cost?
Laser hair removal typically costs a few hundred dollars, although pricing varies depending on the size and number of areas treated. The density and thickness of your hair also factor into how many sessions we will recommend. An in-person consultation is the best way to obtain an accurate price quote.
Will my insurance cover medical Laser Hair Removal?
The AHCIP is responsible for providing medically necessary physician services and certain dental and oral surgical health services to eligible residents of Alberta. It does not cover non-medically necessary cosmetic treatments, including laser hair removal.
