What are the risks of Radiesse?

In clinical trials of Radiesse used on the hands, the most frequently observed unfavorable events were loss of sensation, reduced ability to perform activities, nodules or bumps/lumps, itching, pain, swelling, redness, bruising, and other localized side effects.

How does Radiesse work?

Radiesse is injected under the skin with a thin needle to plump the skin and add volume to the back of your hands. Radiesse will not correct the underlying causes of loss of fullness in the hands. Radiesse will not be injected into your wrist or fingers.

How long does it take for Radiesse to work?

What is Radiesse made of?

Radiesse is an injectable filler that is made of a combination of a gel with tiny calcium microspheres called calcium hydroxylapatite, which is structurally similar to what is found in the bones and teeth. Calcium hydroxylapatite is the heaviest and most substantial filler that is available in the cosmetic world. This type of facial filler is commonly used for deep folds or creases, such as frown lines, sunken cheeks, fine lines and nasolabial folds.

Will my insurance cover Radiesse?

Eligible residents of Alberta are fully covered for physician services deemed medically necessary, as well as certain dental and oral surgical health services, under the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP). However, the AHCIP does not cover medical procedures that are not essential, such as cosmetic surgeries, including Radiesse.
