Platelet-rich fibrin is the second generation of platelet-rich plasma injection treatments we offer Calgary that creates even greater results than its predecessor. A standard PRP treatment features a concentration of platelets, fibrin, and white blood cells. A PRF treatment boasts a higher concentration of white blood cells, fibrin, and a small number of stem cells as well.
Since PRF is extracted from your own blood, it is completely natural and fully recognized by your body upon injection. PRF stands for platelet-rich fibrin. At our Calgary med spa, we offer PRF treatment as a concentrated form of platelets and white blood cells obtained from a blood draw, and is used as an alternative to hyaluronic acid fillers. PRF is an autologous blood concentrate, 100% natural, free of additives and chemicals, and packed with powerful cells for skin rejuvenation purposes. PRF can be used for dark circles, acne scarring, skin texture, tear troughs, hair restoration, volume loss, and a whole lot more. It is truly “liquid gold.”
A blood sample is collected and placed in a centrifuge to create the PRF product. It is then carefully injected into the skin in the treatment area to achieve your desired results. In terms of using PRF as a follow up after a microneedling treatment, it is then applied topically to the skin allowing the product to penetrate deeper layers of your skin through the micro injuries created by microneedling. This often enhances the overall results of your treatment.

The PRF treatment at our Calgary med spa takes approximately 1 hour. This depends on if the PRF is administered through injections only, and/or micro-needled into the skin.
Results from PRF treatments can be seen for many years after treatment. While we cannot stop the aging process, we can slow it down. This plasma is then injected into your skin using an injection device. The injection device is used to penetrate the skin and introduce your own repair cells into the dermis to induce repair.
